Description
The LTQ-Orbitrap-XL (Thermo Scientific) is a hybrid high-resolution mass spectrometer with an electrospray ion source (ESI) and a linear ion trap detector coupled to the main Orbitrap detector. It offers the possibility of exact mass acquisition with minor mass errors (2 ppm at 400 m/z). Offering two fragmentation methodologies (CID and HCD) and capable of performing MSn experiments with high accuracy determination of fragment ions, it is the chosen platform for chemical characterization.
The equipment is coupled to an Accela (Thermo Scientific) HPLC instrument equipped with a diode array detector (DAD) for LC-MS experiments.
There is the possibility of coupling this spectrometer with a nanoelectrospray ion source and a nano HPLC platform for ultrasensitive detection and proteomics experiments.
